Overview

The Department of English with its aim of strengthening the communicative competence of students, facilitates them by employing innovative teaching methodologies. The English Language and Literary Club with its motto, “Express, Excel, Emulate”, plays a pivotal role in fulfilling the department’s objectives of developing Communication, Interpersonal and Leadership skills of students. The qualified and experienced faculty members in the department with their multifaceted and trending approach, help them in academics and beyond, by making them excel in competitions, conducted in the college and by other institutions.

A modern and sophisticated language laboratory comprising adequate systems with internet and the required software facility, helps the students to hone their LSRW skills. The lab offers a wide range of self-instructional materials and learner- friendly modules in language learning. It familiarises Computer Aided Language Learning to students, enabling them to face computer-based competitive exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, CEED and GMAT. The department’s insuperable efforts ensure the acquisition of Communication Skills and Soft Skills to make the students, perform effectively in the highly competitive job market and in developing them as holistic individuals.

To focus on the cumulative development of individuals through imparting values on philosophy of life by offering a plethora of disciplines such as Languages, Yoga, Psychology and Music and to equip students with the skills and knowledge to excel in their professional careers and in other spheres of life.

Mission

i.     To enhance the Communicative abilities of students imparting suitable pedagogical methods of English, German, French, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish and Hindi languages teaching thereby accelerating the endeavours of student community towards academic buoyancy and entrepreneurial career prospects.

ii.    To offer suitable inputs for students to have good health, practice mental hygiene and integrate moral values through yoga and music.

iii.   To foster a strong professional identity and create clinical competence through offering counselling to students.

Laboratory

Language Laboratory

The Language Laboratory is established to enhance the overall communication skills of the students. The lab comprises of 60 systems with internet facility and a modern language lab software which helps the students to hone their LSRW skills. It also equips the students to do extremely well in the placement arena, by acquiring interview skills and professional competence.

• Introduces the students a range of self-instructional, learner-friendly modules in language learning
• Familiarizes Computer Aided Language Learning to the students, thus providing them with the required facility to face computer-based competitive exams such GRE, TOEFL, GMAT etc.
