MSEC had reached a new height with the commissioning of unique all structure based ship-in campus at its campus in Kilakarai.
The project worth over 10 Crore Rupees has inducted with a team of inhouse experts as well as from outside industry with the procuring of a large number of the ship’s machinery and equipment. The Ship in Campus module is meant for training of the maritime candidates with an aim of providing them with an environment as close to the actual conditions, which the candidates will encounter during their service on board a ship.
The Main Engine & “Miura” make boiler are being imported especially from Japan-home to some of the world’s best ship equipment. The Engine Room will house all real life machinery viz. main engine, generating set, purifiers, boiler (without firing arrangement) etc., and various other equipment and systems mostly procured brand new from the manufacturers for hands on demonstration to the candidates. The model will have three tiers of accommodation module with navigating bridge on the fourth tier.
The accommodation modules will have various consoles of Cargo Control Room of various types of ships viz Product carrier, crude carrier, chemical tanker etc. The Navigation Bridge will accommodate various navigation and communication equipments and units (Complete wheel house simulator package). The Aft deck will have mooring equipment installed along with stern launch free fall lifeboat.
